Ian McDonald, from the groups “Foreigner” and “King Crimson” formed a new band called “Honey West” and came to me to direct/shoot a hybrid MusicVideo/EPK for the band. They had a lot of ideas of what they wanted, but didn’t know how to merge all of the different things they wanted to present.
But they definitely wanted black & white footage, sped up/zany footage, quirky stuff to show personality, plus interviews and history, and showing the band playing – plus a few songs!
I worked to include everything into a concept. That’s how the idea of using a TV set got into the video, to help integrate the interviews with the band footage.
