I was told we had access to the President of Marcellus Shale Coalition for only a very short time in her office, but they wanted to make this spot look high end, not just a message in an office. So I came up with the virtual set background (they liked “Newsy”) and we shot her on green screen. As with all directing, it’s about concept; and also about working with your talent, no matter their abilities, to get them comfortable and give a warm, pleasant, and inviting performance.
